This easy holiday trifle layers the classic Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes with creamy pudding and fresh berries for a quick no-bake dessert that’s festive and nostalgic.
8Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes(cut into 1-inch pieces)
2cupsfresh strawberries(sliced or diced)
Green sugar sprinkles(for garnish)
Red icing(for garnish)
Additional strawberries and/or Christmas Tree Cake(optional for garnish)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk together for about two minutes, until thickened.
Use a spatula to gently fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping until smooth.
In a large glass trifle dish (or individual serving cups, if preferred), layer a third of the Christmas Tree Cake pieces on the bottom of the dish. Then add a layer of a third of the pudding mixture, followed by a layer of half of the berries. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a pudding layer.
Top with the remaining cup of whipped topping, spreading evenly.
Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Just before serving, use red icing to pipe wavy lines over the top of the whipped topping. Sprinkle with green sprinkles to give the look of a Christmas Tree Cake. If desired, you can garnish with additional sliced strawberries and a whole Christmas Tree Cake.
Notes
You can buy a tube of red icing in the baking aisle of the grocery store. Green sanding sugar sprinkles most closely resemble the sprinkles on a Christmas Tree Cake.
To keep the colors from bleeding into the whipped topping, wait until just before serving to decorate.
Leftovers can be tightly covered and refrigerated for up to 3-5 days.
