How to Make It:
(Full printable recipe card is available below)
Prepare the equipment. First, you’ll preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Combine wet ingredients. Next, you’ll melt the butter in a large microwave safe mixing bowl.
Once the butter is completely melted, add the brown sugar and white sugar to the large bowl of melted butter and whisk together until smooth well-combined (you can also use an electric mixer if preferred).
Then, you’ll whisk in the eggs, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk until all of the ingredients are fully incorporated (or use a hand mixer if desired).

Add dry ingredients. Gently whisk in the cocoa powder and flour until just combined.
Once the dry ingredients have been thoroughly mixed into the batter, fold the chocolate chips into the chocolate mixture until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake the brownies. Last, you’ll transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick can be removed from the center of the pan, mostly clean.

Allow brownies to cool before lifting out the parchment paper.
Cooling before slicing allows for the easiest cutting. Then serve and enjoy!

Notes and Adaptations:
- If you only have unsalted butter on hand, just add 1/4 tsp of salt to the cocoa powder and flour.
- Allowing the brownies to cool will make them easier to cut cleanly. You can also use a plastic serrated knife. No matter what you use to slice these brownies, be sure to wipe it off between cuts to keep the cuts as clean as possible.
- You can use Dutch process cocoa powder or regular cocoa powder. Additionally, you can switch up the kind of chocolate chips you sue if you want a richer or sweeter chocolate flavor.
- You can store your leftover brownies in an airtight container (or tightly covered with plastic wrap) at room temperature for 3-5 days.
The sweetened condensed milk gives these brownies a delicious, fudgy texture. This also helps prevent the brownies from drying out. - Because of the fudgy texture and chocolate chips in the brownies, the toothpick will likely not come out completely clean when finished baking. You just don’t want any obvious uncooked brownie batter on the toothpick.
- Serve these brownies on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle of hot fudge or caramel sauce.
