How to Make Halloween Cake Bars with Oreos

It’s really easy to make these bars.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Halloween Oreos
  • Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • Milk
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Egg
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Halloween Sprinkles

How to Make It:

Layer Oreos in pan. First, you’ll chop half of the Oreos and place the pieces in a greased baking dish.

Make the batter. Then, you’ll use an electric mixer to mix up the cake mix, milk, oil, and egg. Once that’s mixed, add in the chocolate chips until combined.

Spread the thick batter over the cookie pieces in the pan.

Layer and bake. Then, you’ll chop the remaining Oreos and sprinkle them over the batter, gently pressing them into the batter.

Add your Halloween sprinkles on top, then bake!

Be sure to let them cool completely before slicing, otherwise they’ll be prone to falling apart.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Because these bars are pretty rich, I prefer to cut them into smaller squares, getting about 12 squares from a pan. You can cut them larger or smaller, if preferred.
  • Leftover bars can be covered and stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.

These chocolate cake bars are chock full of Halloween Oreos and festive sprinkles, making them a deliciously spooky dessert for your Halloween gatherings this year.

Ingredients

  • 18 Halloween Oreo sandwich cookies (divided)
  • 15.25 ounce Devil's food cake mix
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2-4 tablespoons Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F and spray an 8×8-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • Chop 9 of the Oreo cookies. Sprinkle the pieces evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Set aside.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or in a large mixing bowl with an electric hand mixer), combine cake mix, milk, oil, and egg. Mix on low-medium speed until fully incorporated (batter will be thick).
  • Add chocolate chips, mixing to incorporate.
  • Spread the batter evenly over the Oreo pieces in the baking dish (I spray my hands with nonstick spray and use my fingers to press the batter into the pan).
  • Chop the remaining 9 Oreo cookies and sprinkle the pieces over the top of the batter. Then add the Halloween sprinkles over the top. Use your fingers to gently press the Oreo pieces into the batter.
  • Bake in preheated oven for about 25-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Because these are pretty rich, I typically cut them into smaller squares and get about 12 squares from one pan. You can cut them larger or smaller.
  • Leftovers can be covered and stored at room temperature.
