Crispy potatoes have always been a staple side dish in my house.
For years, I’ve been accepting a little help from the grocery store in the form of frozen french fries, hash browns, and Crispy Crowns.
I always have a bag or two in the freezer and they could be easily baked to serve with almost any meal.
Crispy Crowns baked in the oven are tasty, but the first time I made Ore Ida Crispy Crowns in the air fryer, I knew I was never going back. They were so much better than baked!
Ore Ida Crispy Crowns are a lot like tater tots (AKA tater puffs or potato bites). They are made with seasoned, shredded potatoes and formed into little coins.
They are a bit flatter than tater tots but are similar in texture and flavor.
We love to serve them with breakfast or dinner-they’re an easy side dish for sloppy joes, air fryer Shake n Bake chicken, burgers, hot dogs, air fryer chicken nuggets, and more. They also make a great quick snack!
The best thing about air fryer crispy crowns is that they cook fast and don’t need any additional oil.
They’ll come out golden and delicious just like tater tots and hash browns from your favorite restaurant.
Add your favorite dipping sauce and you’re set!
Quick Main Dishes to Serve with Air Fryer Crispy Crowns:
How Long to Cook Crispy Crowns In Air Fryer
Air fryer crispy tater tots cook so fast. In most air fryers, they will be cooked to golden and crispy perfection in about 10 minutes.
That’s faster than it takes to preheat the oven, and it’s much better for you than using a deep fryer with extra oil.
Some air fryers cook a little differently so you may need to adjust the time a wee bit depending on your model of air fryer.
For best results, the key is to lay the crispy crowns in a single layer and toss them half way through the air frying cooking time.
If you have a house full of big eaters, cook and serve the first batch of potato crowns and start a second batch as you sit down to eat. The crispy air fryer tater tots will be ready in a jiffy.
