I’ve been a fan of Muddy Buddies ever since I was a kid. There’s just something about that sweet, crunchy goodness that keeps me coming back for more.

They’re easy to make, and I love that I can enjoy just a small handful and still satisfy my sweet tooth.

Traditionally, Muddy Buddies (AKA Puppy Chow) snack mix is made with Chex cereal, peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar, but I’ve been having fun experimenting with new flavors.

For instance, I love the bright flavor of Strawberry Cheesecake Muddy Buddies, and the irresistible nutty flavor of Pistachio Puppy Chow.

This time, I wanted to capture the flavors of banana pudding in a quick and easy sweet snack.

Banana Pudding Muddy Buddies are made with instant banana pudding mix and crushed vanilla wafers, giving it that classic Southern dessert taste without all the work.

Banana Pudding Chex Mix

This recipe couldn’t be easier! If you’re craving banana pudding but don’t feel like layering pudding, cookies, and whipped cream, this is the perfect shortcut.

All you need to do is melt some almond bark, toss it with Chex cereal, and sprinkle on instant banana pudding mix.

It takes just a few minutes, and the result is a sweet, crunchy treat with that signature banana pudding flavor.

The real game-changer is the crushed vanilla wafers. They add the perfect hint of vanilla sweetness and give this banana pudding puppy chow that classic banana pudding taste.

No baking, no mixing bowls full of pudding—just a quick and delicious way to enjoy a nostalgic dessert in snack form!

How to Make Snack Mix with Banana Pudding

It’s really easy to make this simple snack!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Rice Chex Cereal
  • Almond Bark Candy Melts
  • Instant Banana Pudding Mix
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Vanilla Wafers

How to Make It:

Melt the almond bark. First, you’ll place almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir.

Continue microwaving, in 15-second intervals, mixing after each, until smooth and melted.

Pour the melted almond bark over the cereal. Stir to mix well, so that most of the cereal is completely covered in candy coating.

Add the pudding mix. Next, you’ll transfer the mixture to a gallon sized bag, add your powdered sugar and instant banana pudding mix. Mix together.

While the cereal and almond bark mixture is still wet (before it cools and hardens), add the cereal to the zip-top bag. Seal well and shake to coat the cereal.

Add the Nilla Wafers. Last, you’ll add vanilla wafers to a food processor or blender and pulse until the cookies are crushed.

Add the cookie crumbs to the zip-top bag, seal, then shake again.

Pour the Muddy Buddies onto parchment paper, spreading in a single layer, to harden and dry. Then serve and enjoy!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Feel free to add more mix-ins once the Muddy Buddies have cooled. Dried banana chips or mini vanilla wafers would be a fun addition!
  • You can use white chocolate melting wafers instead of almond bark, if preferred.

  • 8 vanilla wafers

  1. Add cereal to a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Place almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving, in 15-second intervals, mixing after each, until smooth and melted.
