Shape the cookies. Next, for cutout cookies, you’ll place the dough between two sheets of wax paper or parchment paper and roll out to about 1/4-inch thickness.

Lightly dust cookie cutters with flour and cut the dough into shapes, re-rolling any scraps to cut more cookies.

Add sprinkles or sanding sugar to cut cookies, if desired.

To make round cookies, scoop dough out by rounded tablespoon and roll into a ball. If desired, roll in sprinkles or sanding sugar.

Bake and Serve. Last, you’ll place cookies on prepared baking sheet, leaving 1-2 inches in between them.

Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. To keep them soft and chewy, be sure not to over-bake them.

Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (or enjoy warm, if preferred).
