For a long time, gelato was one of those desserts I was able to enjoy only when we visited a gelato shoppe, or when I purchased a pricey pint from the grocery store.

But ever since I started making all sorts of frozen treats in my Ninja Creami machine, I can enjoy a smooth and creamy gelato whenever the craving strikes!

I’ve made several other gelato recipes in the Ninja Creami, including vanilla gelato, pistachio gelato, and lemon gelato.

So it was only a matter of time until I made a strawberry version!

I love the fact that fresh strawberries take center stage in this recipe–their natural sweetness and flavor are so refreshing.

Strawberry Gelato Made in the Ninja Creami

I decided to make this ice cream an eggless gelato, because I thought a lighter, creamier texture would highlight the strawberry flavor better than a heavier custard would.

I’m always a fan of macerating berries before you use them, because the sugar helps the berries to release their juices, enhancing their flavor.

You can use monkfruit sweetener if you’re cutting back on added sugars, or just want to decrease the calories a bit.

If possible, use the ripest strawberries you can find, as they’ll have more natural sweetness!

How to Make It:

Macerate the berries. First, you’ll combine the sliced strawberries with some sugar (or monkfruit sweetener) in a small bowl.

Stir to combine, then let sit for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the juices to release and transform into sweet, syrupy goodness.

Creamify. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off its lid, then place it in the outer bowl of the machine.

Close the outer bowl lid and secure it into place in the machine. Press the Gelato button and let the cycle complete.

Re-spin if needed. Last, you’ll check the consistency of the gelato. If it looks kind of crumbly or powdery, insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk to the ice cream, then Re-spin again.
