The Ninja Creami has been my go-to for whipping up small batches of ice cream and I love experimenting with new flavors.

From classic vanilla to quirky orange soda ice cream, we’ve tried it all!

I’ll admit, when I first heard about making ice cream with cottage cheese, I was a little skeptical. Cottage cheese in ice cream? Really?

But trust me on this one—this Ninja Creami chocolate cottage cheese ice cream is incredible. You won’t taste the cottage cheese at all.

Instead, you get a smooth, creamy dessert that’s just as indulgent as anything else you’d expect from an ice cream maker. The texture is spot-on, and the flavor is rich and chocolatey.

Just the way it should be! It’s on our list of the best Ninja Creami recipes, and for good reason.

Not only is it delicious, but you can easily customize the base by tossing in your favorite mix-ins—think chocolate chips, nuts, or chopped Oreos.

Ninja Creami Ice Cream with Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese is an easy swap if you’re looking to cut down on fat without sacrificing that creamy texture we all love.

It’s a good source of protein, making this ice cream a tasty way to get a little extra nutrition into your dessert.

It’s like enjoying a scoop of something indulgent while knowing you’re still making a pretty smart choice.

And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a dessert that’s both decadent and a little bit better for you?

In order to make this a low fat Ninja Creami recipe, I opted to use low fat cottage cheese (I like the Good Culture brand) and 2% milk.

If you’re not concerned with calories, you can also use full fat cottage cheese or whole milk.

The instant pudding mix helps to provide flavor and sweetness, plus enhances the texture.

I used sugar-free, but you can use regular pudding mix if you prefer.

Transfer mixture to a Ninja Creami pint container, being careful not to go past the max fill line.

Freeze. Close the lid on the container and place on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the machine, securing the outer bowl lid.

Insert the outer bowl to the Ninja Creami machine, locking it into place.

Press the Lite Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Re-spin the ice cream, if needed. Last, you’ll remove the pint from the machine and check the ice cream’s texture.

If it appears crumbly or powdery, insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk to the ice cream and Re-spin once more. It should be nice and creamy!

  1. Heather Keylich says:

Is it ok to use regular chocolate pudding mix instead of sugar free? If so, would the amount be the same?

    1. Chrysti Benner says:

Hi Heather! Yes, you can use regular instant chocolate pudding mix. I would recommend using 4 tablespoons of regular. Enjoy! 🙂

  2. Is there any substitute for the pudding mix?

    1. Chrysti Benner says:

The pudding mix is mostly for sweetness, a creamier texture, and a little bit of flavor. But if you want to omit it, I’d recommend increasing the sugar (or monkfruit sweetener) to 1/3 cup. You may want to blend in a tablespoon of softened cream cheese for texture, but it isn’t a must-have. I think 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder should still be enough for a good chocolatey flavor, but if you taste the mixture before freezing and feel like it needs a little more, you could add an extra teaspoon or two. I hope that helps! 🙂
