Cherry season is one of my absolute favorite times of the year.

There’s something so delightful about those sweet, juicy cherries that makes me want to use them in as many recipes as possible.

One of my go-to treats during this time is a refreshing cherry sorbet with fresh cherries.

It’s a perfect way to enjoy the fruit in a cool and delicious way, especially on those hot summer days!

The process of making cherry sorbet is similar to my Ninja Creami Fresh Peach Sorbet.

It has a fresh and fruity taste, but it’s also a bit lighter than traditional ice cream, making it a great option for a mid-afternoon snack or a light dessert.

Tips for Making Fresh Cherry Sorbet in the Ninja Creami

  • Choose Ripe Cherries – Use fresh, ripe cherries for the best flavor. Look for cherries that are firm and have shiny skin.
  • Pit the Cherries Efficiently – Invest in a good cherry pitter to make quick work of pitting. This will save you time and ensure you get the most fruit.
  • Adjust the Sweetness –Taste your mixture before freezing and adjust the sweetness as needed. If your cherries are particularly sweet, you may need less sugar.
  • Brighten the Flavor – Add a splash of lemon, lime, or orange juice to enhance the natural cherry flavor.
  • Freeze on a Level Surface – Ensure the mixture freezes evenly by placing the pint container on a flat, level surface in the freezer.
  • Use the Re-spin Function – If the sorbet is crumbly after the first spin, use the Re-spin function on the Ninja Creami to achieve a smoother texture.
  • Experiment with Sweeteners – Feel free to substitute granulated sugar with monk fruit sweetener or another sugar alternative to suit your dietary preferences.

How to Make Ninja Creami Fresh Cherry Sorbet

It’s really easy to make this delicious sorbet.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Fresh Cherries
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Fresh Lemon Juice

How to Make It:

Prepare the cherries. First you’ll add cherries to the bowl of a food processor. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar (or monkfruit sweetener) and lemon juice.

Process until smooth and sugar has dissolved, then taste the mixture to see if it needs additional sweetener (this will depend on the sweetness of your cherries and your personal preference).

If so, add an additional tablespoon or so of sweetener, then pulse to incorporate.

Freeze and spin. Next, you’ll pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container and close its lid.

Transfer pint to a level surface in the freezer for at least 24 hours.

Remove container from freezer and take off its lid. Place pint into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami, securing the outer bowl lid.

Transfer the bowl to the Ninja Creami machine, locking it into place, then press the Sorbet button.

Re-Spiin if needed. Once it finishes running, check the texture of the sorbet. If it looks a little crumbly, you can insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button.

Scoop and serve. Last, you’ll scoop the sorbet and serve.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I use a cherry pitter to make quick work of pitting the cherries.
  • The lemon juice helps to brighten the flavor of the cherries. You can also use orange juice or lime juice, or omit it completely if you don’t have any on hand.
  • Feel free to use monkfruit sweetener if you’d like to decrease the added sugar in this recipe. I like Lakanto monkfruit sweetener as a sugar substitute.

  • 3 cups fresh cherries, pitted and stemmed
  • 1/4-1/3 cup granulated sugar (or monk fruit sweetener)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Add cherries to the bowl of a food processor. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar (or monkfruit sweetener) and lemon juice.
