Why You’ll Love This Pear Crumble

This pear crumble is one of those desserts that feels a little rustic in the best way. You don’t have to worry about making it look perfect, and honestly, that’s part of the charm.

The pears bake down into a soft, lightly spiced syrupy filling, making it cozy without being heavy.

The oat and nut topping turns golden and crisp, giving some texture that adds a nice contrast to the tender fruit.

Layer and bake. Then, you’ll sprinkle the topping evenly over the pears in the baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for about 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden-brown and filling is bubbly.

Let the crisp cool slightly to allow the filling to thicken a bit, then serve warm.

Top each serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I don’t bother peeling the pears, because the peel gets so soft when baked. But if you prefer, you can peel the pears before slicing.
  • You can use walnuts instead of pecans, or omit the nuts entirely if you need a nut-free dessert.
  • Leftover cobbler can be covered well with plastic wrap and stored at room temperature for 2-3 days or refrigerated for 3-5 days.
