I’ve made chicken and Bisquick dumplings on the stove top, and I’ve also made Instant Pot chicken and dumplings with Bisquick.

Both are delicious, but sometimes, you want to cook things low and slow throughout the day.

Honestly, this recipe never disappoints. It’s one of those meals you can rely on whenever you need something warm, comforting, and refreshingly simple.

How to Cook Bisquick Dumplings in the Slow Cooker

Dumplings made with Bisquick are so soft and fluffy, almost like little pillows in the soup.

As they cook, they puff up, becoming light and airy while absorbing the savory goodness around them. It’s like a little magic happens in the Crock Pot.

Once you drop spoonfuls of the Bisquick dumplings dough into the hot broth, let them cook on high for about 30 minutes to an hour.

This gives them time to rise and cook through, turning into the perfect topping for your meal. It’s simple, comforting, and delicious!

How to Make It:

(Full printable recipe is available below)

Cook the veggies and chicken. First, you’ll add chicken, onion, celery, peas and carrots, chicken broth, salt, thyme, and pepper to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.

Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Next, you’ll remove the chicken breasts from the slow cooker. Use a fork to gently shred or break apart the chicken, then return to the Crock Pot. Stir in the cream of chicken soup.

Prepare the dumplings. Then, you’ll combine Bisquick and milk in a mixing bowl, stirring just until a dough forms.

Drop spoonfuls of dough on top of the soup mixture. I like to gently press them to dunk them under the hot broth (to wet the top of the dumplings a little) before they cook.

Cook the dumplings. Last, you’ll cover and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the dumplings are fully cooked and fluffy.

Garnish with chopped parsley for a pop of color, if desired.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I like to use homemade cream of chicken soup because it’s super quick and easy to make, uses basic ingredients, and adds great flavor. However, if you prefer canned cream of chicken soup, use one small can of condensed cream of chicken soup along with half a can of water or broth.
