When you’re looking for a simple fall dessert that doesn’t require a long list of ingredients, this Bisquick apple crisp is such a great choice.

Fresh apples, cinnamon, sugar, and a quick crumb topping make up a warm dessert that’s easy enough for a weeknight but nice enough to serve company, too.

One of the things I like most about this recipe is that it uses regular pantry staples along with fresh apples.

If you’ve already got a box of Bisquick on hand (and with so many recipes to make with Bisquick, you should!), you’re well on your way to dessert without an extra trip to the grocery store.

The apples become tender as they bake, while the topping turns golden with just the right amount of crunch. It’s a cozy, classic apple dessert that’s perfect for late summer and fall!

Apple Crumble Made with Bisquick

Using Bisquick for the cobbler topping is a great way to ensure you can whip up this dessert fast.

The baking mix creates a buttery crumble that bakes up crisp on top while soaking up just enough of the apple juices underneath, so you get some nice texture in every bite.

For the filling, cinnamon and sugar are a must. But I also add some lemon juice, which helps to brighten up the flavor, and some cornstarch to thicken the juices.

I typically use Granny Smith apples, but you can use a different variety if you prefer.

We love to serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream, but it’s still tasty when it’s cooled off.

Prepare the Bisquick topping. Then, you’ll combine Bisquick, sugar, and melted butter.

Stir together until a slightly crumbly dough has formed and there are no dry patches in the dough. I usually start mixing with a spoon and finish with my fingers.

Bake the apple crisp. Then, you’ll sprinkle the pieces of dough evenly over the top of the apple mixture.

Transfer to preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden-brown.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • We like to serve this crisp warm, topped with either vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Leftovers can be covered well and refrigerated for up to 2-3 days.
  • If you don’t mind the peel being on the apples, you can skip the step of peeling them.
  • I like to use this Johnny Apple Peeler to do the work of peeling and slicing the apples. I’ve had mine for many years and it still works great!
