When you need something quick and don’t want to overthink it, an easy peach dump cake is a crowd-pleasing favorite.
Since it uses canned peaches, there’s no peeling or slicing, and everything just gets dumped together right in the baking dish. Using a boxed mix for the cobbler topping keeps the prep and clean-up really minimal, which is a win on busy days.
Once it bakes, the peaches develop into a sweet filling with just the right amount of syrup, and the cake mix and butter create a lightly crisp topping.
It’s easy to make, easy to serve, and always a hit, whether you serve it plain or add a scoop of ice cream.

Making a “Lazy” Peach Cobbler
One of the best things about this peach cobbler is how easy it is to tweak based on what you have or what you’re in the mood for.
If you like a little extra warmth, adding cinnamon or nutmeg to the peaches is an easy addition.
You can also swap the coconut cake mix for white or yellow cake mix if that’s what you have on hand.
For a little more texture, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the top before baking. It gives the topping a bit of crunch that works really well with the soft peaches.
You can also add other fruits that pair well with peaches. Mixing in blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries with the peaches is a simple way to add a little variety.
When it comes to serving, I prefer to eat it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but it’s just as good with whipped cream or even just plain. It’s one of those desserts that you can keep simple or dress up a bit depending on the occasion.

Prepare the peaches. First, you’ll mix together peaches (with their liquid), brown sugar, cornstarch, vanilla, and salt. Spread into the bottom of a greased 9×13 pan.

Add the cake mix and bake. Then, you’ll sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the top of the fruit mixture and evenly distribute butter slices over top.
Bake for 55 – 60 minutes until the filling is bubbling and the top is golden brown.

Cool and serve. Then, you’ll let it cool for 10-15 minutes, which allows the filling to thicken a bit.
Serve warm, topping with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes and Adaptations:
- If you can’t find coconut cake mix or prefer another variety, you can use yellow cake mix or white cake mix instead.
- Cover leftovers and store in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
- For a little extra crunch, feel free to add chopped pecans to the top of the cake mix layer before placing the butter slices.
- Feel free to add 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the peach mixture if you’d like.
